SUMMER SAFETY TIPS FOR POWER TOOLS! (Part # 2)

TRIMMING THE VERGE

In addition to mowing the lawn, hedge maintenance is a common spring and summer activity. Regardless of whether it is a single bush or a small shrub, it still needs to be cut back. There are a few things to look out for when using an electric hedge trimmer to complete the task quickly and effectively. Step Ladders are also the best choice for trimming in a garden.

When using hedge trimmers, adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Before beginning, clear any obstacles on the ground to make room for your ladder, if you'll need one.

  • Never use a trimmer higher than your head height.

  • Wear sturdy gloves and safety goggles to protect your eyes.

  • Use a residual current device (RCD)

  • Hold the hedge trimmer well out in front of your body.

  • Make sure the cable is over your shoulder to prevent cutting it.

  • The hedge trimmer could rebound and cause damage to your body if you push it over a tough patch of growth.

WORKING WITH A CHAINSAW

In all honesty, using a chainsaw can be risky, so we don't need to explain it. Before picking one up again, it is always a good idea to refresh your knowledge, regardless of how much experience you have with them. Even though everyone is aware that they are risky, those who don't use them often might not be able to fully identify each potential threat. It’s always a good idea to use Platform Step Ladders while working with chainsaws.

You should be on the lookout for the following:

The green thumb grip- requires you to completely encircle both handles with your thumbs and fingers. Additionally, you must keep your left thumb under the front handle to lessen the force of any kickback that might occur.

Close proximity- You can maintain a more stable position by keeping the saw closer to your body and standing with your left foot slightly in front of your right.

Maintain your bent knees- Your spine should not sag when working at a low height; Bend your knees instead.

The saw is moving- Turn off the engine or engage the chain brake if you want the chain to stop turning when you move to a new location.

Safe distance- When using a chainsaw, work at least three to five meters away from other people to ensure your safety.

With the help of these suggestions, you'll be able to unwind while working summer jobs. However, if you are still unsure of the task's safety, we always recommend consulting a professional.
